More Than Wrestling

Four pillars. One complete athlete.

We use wrestling as the foundation — then layer on the strength, mindset, and athletic development your kid needs to dominate any sport they choose.

01

Wrestling Training

Elite technique for folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco. The foundation of every complete athlete.

02

Fitness & Strength

Age-appropriate conditioning that builds explosive power without burnout or injury.

03

Mental Toughness

Focus, resilience, and confidence under pressure, on the mat, on the field, and in the classroom setting.

04

Total Athlete

Speed, balance, and body control that transfers directly to football, lacrosse, and basketball.

05

Academic Support

We pair wrestling instruction with academic support in reading, writing, and math to build stronger students and stronger athletes.

Classroom & Mat

Educational
Enhancement Program.

At Coles Wrestling Academy, we believe champions are built in both the classroom and the wrestling room. Our Educational Enhancement Program combines high-quality academic support in reading, writing, and mathematics with wrestling instruction to improve literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and study habits. By reinforcing classroom learning alongside athletic training, we help student-athletes improve academic performance, increase confidence, and develop the discipline, accountability, and resilience needed to excel in school, sports, and life.

Girls' Program

Girls
Win Here.

Girls' wrestling is the fastest-growing girls' sport in America — and it's building a generation of stronger, more confident daughters. CWA is a welcoming, dedicated program where your daughter builds the strength, poise, and self-belief that carries into every room she walks into.

  • Girls-forward training culture
  • Confidence through strength, not comparison
  • Compete only when — and if — she's ready

No Striking

Pure grappling. No punches, no kicks. This is not fighting.

Beginner Friendly

Most of our athletes start with zero experience.

Why Parents Choose CWA

Safety. Character. Discipline.

We tackle the concerns of modern parents head-on. This isn't just about wrestling — it's about raising a stronger young person.

01

Safety-First Coaching

Small, age-grouped classes. We teach falling and landing before anything else, with a clear focus on control and safety.

02

Character First

Controlled, disciplined, respectful. Kids leave here more grounded — not more aggressive.

03

Not a Fight Club

Grappling is a technique sport — leverage, balance, control. There is no striking at CWA, ever.

04

Beginner Friendly

Most kids show up on day one with zero experience. Coach Coles meets your child exactly where they are and steadily brings them up to the rest of the group's skill level over time.

05

Backed by Parents

Parents choose CWA for the confidence and discipline results they see at home — not just the wins.

Meet the Coach

Coach Lance Coles.

Founder & Head Coach. Two decades on the mat, a lifetime coaching kids.

"My job isn't to just build a wrestler. It is to build youth with integrity and character first, athletes second. Wrestling is just the teaching tool for the discipline they will carry for the rest of their lives."

Coach Lance Coles has spent nearly a decade shaping athletes both on and off the mat. Since 2017, he has led the Milford Mill Junior Wrestling League, where his coaching has produced 3 MJWL league championships, over 40 MSWA state championships, and helped guide more than 20 athletes into private high school programs and over 10 into college wrestling programs.

Coach Coles's own wrestling journey began at Randallstown High School (2006–2008) before continuing at Milford Mill High School, where he graduated in 2008. He went on to wrestle at the collegiate level at Jamestown Community College (2009–2010).

That firsthand experience — from high school mats to college competition — now shapes the way he coaches: with a focus on discipline, technique, and building character in every athlete who steps onto the mat.
